New art & aprons at The Good Cup! Over the summer “the sisters” have created wonderful art and colorful aprons. Stop by to see their fabulous work!

The “Sisterhood” includes:

Amy Baggett (the oldest)- who is inspired by patterns, prints & colors and took up sewing 3 years ago. She is a teacher in Nashville.

Hannah Clayton (the middle)- studying at David Lipscomb to be a teacher and is naturally inspired by color, beauty & photography. She has been painting since she was child.

Ellie Clayton (the youngest)- attending CPA while pursuing music, acting and art. She has an eye for all things unique and sees beauty in everyone.

Returning Home

This morning was my first day back in the coffee shop after being in Kalamazoo, Michigan for 8 days visiting my family. As much fun as I had taking Mycah to the Bird Sanctuary (where I used to go as a child) and playing in the sand on Lake Michigan, it didn’t compare to the joy of seeing my parents interact with their first grand baby. It amazes me how one little person can bring so many people together. My cup surely felt full as I shared my heart about the last six months of being a new mom and even more so today. I was sitting in front of my computer trying to catch up on a weeks worth of work while Mycah sat in her booster chair flinging her toys EVERYWHERE, I was welcomed back by just about everyone that walked thru the door. I am truly blessed to be a part of such a wonderful community who really cares about each other.

Friday Night Music

Fashionable Burlap

If only my mind was this creative… Melissa Brown had a brilliant idea to rejuvenate natural burlap and jute bags that have been emptied of their raw coffee by our local coffee roasters. Once they have been retired from their original purpose, the bags are the perfect material to combine with stylish fabrics for creating interesting, beautiful handbags. Recycling for the sake of fashion, her purses are handmade one-of-a-kind pieces of art. My personal favorite is the re-used Publix grocery bag made fashionable!!

This Friday at 7pm we are having another Music Night, free to the public. So if you’re trying to figure out what to do this weekend, why not swing by! Not only are we a venue for good music, but also an intimate coffee shop with deliciously roasted, smooth well-balanced coffees, delectable sandwiches and a warm, family friendly, Wifi accessible atmosphere. A few years back I was working a wedding reception and heard Allison Kerr playing and singing some flavorful tunes. Ever since then The Good Cup has been lucky enough to have Allison & Friends perform almost every Thursday afternoon from 12:30-2:00pm. They highlight smooth jazz ‘n blues standards with Allison on vocals/guitar and featuring Robbie Shankle on Sax/clarinet. Stop in sometime and ask Allison how she uses music as therapy and how it can improve the quality of life.
